Project Overview:

The KEPPT Ajeel Integrated Project, officially launched on January 6, 2025, is a landmark initiative transforming Iraq’s energy landscape. Spearheaded by KEPPT under the guidance of KAR Electrical Power Production Trading FZE, the project is centered around the strategic development of the Ajeel Field in the Salah al-Din Governorate. This ambitious venture integrates oil, gas, and renewable energy resources, showcasing a model of innovation and sustainability in Iraq’s energy sector.

Project Scope:

With an investment of USD 3 billion, the Ajeel Integrated Project is designed to advance Iraq’s energy independence and infrastructure through:

  • Oil Reservoir Development: Sustainable extraction from proven reserves.
  • Gas Extraction Facilities: Processing 300 MMSCFD of gas for electricity generation.
  • Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant: A cutting-edge 1,500 MW facility, seamlessly connected to Iraq’s national grid.
  • Solar Energy Integration: A 200 MW solar power station for eco-friendly operations.

This comprehensive project is a cornerstone of Iraq’s drive toward sustainable energy and economic resilience.

  1. Strategic Location: The Ajeel Field, discovered in 1977 and located 80 km southwest of Kirkuk, is a proven hub of oil and gas resources following extensive analysis.
  2. Robust Backing: Endorsed by the Iraqi Council of Ministers in April 2024 and developed by KAR Group, renowned for its expertise in large-scale energy and infrastructure projects.
